3rd Edition CPG’s Published
PHECC’s 3rd Edition Clinical Practice Guidelines were published during the summer and offer current best practice guidance in pre-hospital emergency care. For the first time ever, the CPGs recognise the three levels of practitioner and responder and comprise four publications – responder level (Cardiac First Response, Occupational First Aid and Emergency First Response) and three practitioner levels – Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic and Advanced Paramedic.
The guidelines are much expanded in number and scope with 256 CPGs in all, to guide integrated care across the six levels. Each level of more advanced care is built on the care level preceding it, whether or not provided by the same person.
All registrants will have received a complementary level-specific copy of the CPGs by post over the last few weeks. If you have not received your copy send your details in an email to cpg@phecc.ie for follow up.
The CPGs are available to download and copies are available to purchase via the PayPal link on www.phecc.ie.
Important note
In order for you, the practitioner, to legally administer medications you must be registered with PHECC and be acting (paid or voluntary) on behalf of an organisation that is PHECC-approved to implement the CPGs. The criteria for PHECC CPG approval are available on www.phecc.ie.
Your comments and suggestions on the experience of using the guidelines in practice are essential for their ongoing development and refinement and your feedback (email b.power@phecc.ie) is welcomed. |
