Cardiac First Responder Winners

RESUS 2009, held in Co Clare in November, was attended by 360 voluntary and statutory services and GPs, an increase of 100 delegate attendance on the previous event held in 2007. Sessions held during the two-day conference included airway management, the role of pre-hospital physicians, community responder schemes, cooling in cardiac arrest management, as well as research presentations.

A successful part of RESUS is the life support competitions. These competitions aim to identify and reward excellence at all levels of resuscitation practice in Ireland. Congratulations to Kelly Spillane and Alan Murphy, Wicklow Community First Responders, winners of the Cardiac First Responder (CFR) skills competition.
