NQEMT – Setting Professional Standards

The function of the NQEMT examination is to establish and maintain a national professional standard in emergency medical technology. This is a benchmark process, which assesses the knowledge and skills for competent practice as a professional Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic or Advanced Paramedic in Ireland. PHECC is empowered to award the NQEMT to successful candidates. Holders of the NQEMT may apply to PHECC for entry onto the PHECC register. This is the national professional register for prehospital practitioners. Congratulations to all who were successful in the NQEMT during 2009.

Do you have a question for us?

It is essential that the National Qualification in Emergency Medical Technology (NQEMT) examinations continue to be set at the appropriate level by offering a fair representation of the standard required of pre-hospital practitioners. PHECC want to emphasize and acknowledge the ongoing professional contribution being made to the pre-hospital industry by members the Question Approval Group (QAG). As operational practitioners they continue to bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the group and have worked vigorously over the past two years to ensure that examination content meets with best practice. We would like to take the opportunity to remind you that we have invited all registered practitioners to contribute to the national examination process by submitting material for review. To date we have received very little by way of direct contributions from operational practitioners. Once again we are extending this invitation to participate. If you are a newly qualified or an existing practitioner and are interested in becoming involved in developing exam material please check out the QAG page under the examination tab at www.phecc.ie
If you are interested in becoming a participating member of the team contact the registrar barry@phecc.ie
