EMT CPC Roadshow

The first of the EMT CPC roadshows took place on Friday 17th February in Dublin. Since then roadshows have taken place in Sligo, Galway, Mullingar, Kilkenny and Cork.
There has been huge interest in these events with over 600 EMTs in attendance.

Each event began with a presentation by Omar Fitzell, EMT CPC Coordinator. Included in the presentation was the history of the EMT CPC journey and a high-level review of the sample CPC portfolio, identifying various sections to be completed by all PHECC registered EMTs.

NOTE The presentation from the Mullingar event will soon be available to view on YouTube.

Following the presentation, all attendees were separated into groups, each with two CPC assessors who gave an in-depth review of the sample portfolio followed by a questions and answers session.

EMTs who attended were awarded 3 CPC points and provided invaluable feedback to help steer the CPC process for 2017/2018.

It is envisaged that towards the end of this CPC cycle an in-depth review will take place with registrants to establish the advancement of the CPC process and identify areas for improvement.

Here is a sample of the feedback from the roadshows:

Dublin: “I would like to commend you all on the road show on Friday evening, I thought it was very educational and worth while attending……. I will be encouraging all my EMT colleagues to attend the road shows at some point. I feel maybe it should be made mandatory to attend”.

Sligo: “Thank you to all for a very enjoyable evening, put together well and all questions answered thank you to all involved”.

Galway: “Great info tonight on future CPC compliance, thanks to everyone involved, great work”.

Mullingar: "Absolutely brilliant info from the team tonight. Well done to one and all.......very well planned and info was excellent".

Kilkenny: "On a personal level, I found it to be highly informative and it eased a lot of reservations/worries I had regarding EMT CPC by clearly explaining and simplifying the CPC document, and that's no mean achievement".

Important points to remember about CPC

  • CPC for EMTs commences on the 1st November each year and ends on the 31st October. It is your responsibility to ensure you comply with PHECC CPC requirements.
  • The responsibility for registration is yours and the relationship for registration is between you and PHECC.
  • Each year, as part our PHECCs re-registration process, you will sign a declaration stating that you meet the CPC requirements and we will then issue your EMT licence.
  • You must maintain a learning portfolio and accumulate 18 CPC points per year.
  • Your learning portfolio must include:

o Practice Statement
o Basic Requirements
o Additional Requirements (including self-selected options)

  • Ensure patient privacy and confidentiality when recording information for CPC
  • PHECC may request your CPC portfolio. If you have not received a request for it, you will be automatically eligible to re-register.
