ERAS Charity Shield
DFB 5 - ERAS 1
Monday the 5th May was a truly historic day for EMS services in the East of the Country. At a fund raising event in aid of Our lady's Hospital, Crumlin a soccer team comprising of ERAS staff from the three counties of Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow faced opposition from the Dublin Fire Brigade.
The match itself was played in a spirit of friendship and sportsmanship, much to the disappointment of some with the result going the way the much fitter OFB side. Olympian Michael Carruth presented the ERAS Charity Shield to the DFB Captain Matthew Connellan whilst OFB star Eric Boland received the Man of the Match. Star player for ERAS was undoubtedly our guest player, ex. Manchester Utd, Newcastle Utd and Rep. of Ireland player Liam O'Brien who was superb in midfield.
The real winner on the day was Our lady's Hospital with €10,000 being raised. A big thank you to sponsors and also to the lads who organised the event Mick McQuillan and Tony Kelly - Naas, Eoghan Connolly - Baltinglass and Derek Walsh, Kilbarrick Fire Station.
